I was wondering how to wish everyone a New Year’s greeting from my blog, and directing you to an article in the Jewish Community Voice seemed a good idea.
Shanah Tovah to you and your family.
I hope you enjoy the full article, but especially these two excerpts:
ANNE (Bressman, Librarian at Temple Emanuel and the Katz JCC Library): Let’s not forget to mention another holiday, Simchat Torah. There are few books about this one, but “Sammy Spider’s First Simchat Torah” by Sylvia Rouss delightfully explains this celebration and the whole family will enjoy it.
JUDY (Brookover, Librarian at Temple Beth Sholom): We haven’t yet mentioned Yom Kippur. Obviously this holiday does not lend itself to cheerful children’s books. One new title that we can recommend is “The Littlest Fish,” also by Rouss, which gently touches on the story of Jonah. This book is suitable for young children, and the illustrations are vivid.
